Arsenal Invincibles

Kolo Toure mengakhir the Invincibles yang pernah membela ARsenal dengan tidak terkalahkan di Premier League selama musim 2003-2004 di

Last of the Invincibles

‘Kolo has been a central figure in a very strong Arsenal team for many years, and I have been an admirer of him for a long time. He is strong, quick, reads the game well and will be an influential figure in the dressing room.’

Toure said: ‘It’s always difficult to leave a place where you have spent the last eight years and had good times but I felt the time was right for a new challenge. I am at an age, 28, where I feel I am at my peak and will play my best football.’

Hughes will be happy, too, with Onuoha’s commitment, which will see him earn £65,000 a week. He is one of the most promising and popular players in the dressing room.

Hughes was impressed with how he slipped in at centre half last season after Micah Richards was moved to right back and also with his showing for England in the European Under 21 Championship in Sweden.

Arsenal by contrast have made just one signing, central defender Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax, and have also sold Emmanuel Adebayor to City for £25m.

Wenger hinted that he will make more signings before the transfer window closes.

‘I am more focused on getting everybody fit for the start of the season but we are looking at opportunities as well,’ he said.

‘There are still some pre-season games to see what we really need. When the time comes we will do something.’

Terry close to City mega deal

Manchester City last night edged closer to signing England and Chelsea captain John Terry for a British record transfer fee of £35million.

And City’s most recent signing, £25m striker Emmanuel Adebayor, said he believed Terry would follow him to Eastlands.

Adebayor said: ‘I think there is a big possibility John will join us.

Eastlands bound? John Terry could be off to City for a British record transfer fee

‘People didn’t believe six months ago that Carlos Tevez or myself would be playing here. We have come to Manchester City to be THE big team. Why shouldn’t John be persuaded to come here, too?’

New Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has staked his credibility on Terry staying at Stamford Bridge and resisting the temptation to double his £135,000-a-week wages by moving to City.

Terry’s refusal again yesterday to commit himself publicly to Chelsea has strengthened City’s confidence that he will return to England this week with an open mind, despite Chelsea trying to force him to declare his intentions.

But Ancelotti, speaking in the United States after Chelsea had defeated his former club AC Milan 2-1 with goals by Didier Drogba and £18m debutant Yuri Zhirkov, said: ‘For sure, Terry will stay at Chelsea. We have never had a problem. You have to have trust in me.’

Emmanuel AdebayorConfident: Adebayor believes there is ‘a big possibility’ Terry will join him at City

Moments later Terry left the M and T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, where Chelsea fans had displayed banners reading ‘JT Captain Leader Legend’ and ‘JT Please Stay’, without offering as much as a word about his future.

Chelsea appear confident Terry will not risk ruining his reputation as ‘Mr Chelsea’ by asking for a transfer, which is the only way they would allow him to leave. A source close to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich said: ‘I think he will stay.’

And Drogba, asked if he would take over as captain if Terry departed, insisted: ‘He’s not going to leave. He’s our captain. There’s only one captain.’

John Terry Blue is the colour: Chelsea fans make their feelings known on American tour

But City think Chelsea’s attempts to force Terry into a corner could backfire and regard his failure to talk throughout the team’s pre-season tour of America as a sign he wants to investigate further the prospect of moving to the north-west.

After a third and final World Football Challenge match in Dallas early tomorrow morning against Mexican side Club America, Chelsea return home with less than two weeks to go before the Community Shield against champions Manchester United.

It is unthinkable that Terry would be allowed to go into that game without having reached a decision, and the situation is expected to be resolved before Saturday’s friendly at Reading.

Adebayor completes move to Manchester City

After several weeks on an uncertain position, Adebayor finally agress on a move to Arsenal’s rival  Manchester City.

This moves has been rumoured related to money since City has become a rich club.

Arsenal has made a good decision to let Adebayor go since this player has no commitment to the Club.

All Arsenal fans should say thank you for playing with Arsenal and good luck for your future, Adebayor.

The best

“I am very happy, very pleased to be here. I signed for Manchester City because I think they are a team that needs players like this.

“We are here to achieve, we will take it from here and see what we can do. I have to fight for this club now, show that I want to bring trophies to this club.

“(The manager and the chairman said) that maybe in one or two years Man City could be one of the best teams in the world.

“This season I would love for us to be in the top four. We know it is not going to be easy.”

Gunners exit

Adebayor admitted leaving Arsenal was a difficult decision but is confident he has made the right choice after speaking with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

He said: “It was a little bit difficult (to leave Arsenal) but at the end of the day it is a game. I went through a lot of good and bad moments at Arsenal.

“I had a good discussion with Arsene and I had his blessing to leave the club. I am very happy to have played for Arsenal.

“The fans were always great to me, the manager, everyone and the players. I wish them the best of luck. They will always be in my heart.”

Sepanjang pertandingan, Adebayor sepertinya kesal ngeliat back tengah Twente, nomor 19. Kemanapun Adebayor bergerak, dia pasti akan selalu ditempel. Tapi Adebayor tetaplah Adebayor .. dia berhasil menciptakan gol kedua buat Arsenal.
